Presented by SF Salon Music, this innovative program matches violist Alexandra Simpson with cellist James and modern dancer Katie Roy. This program is full of contrasts: the creativity and playfulness of limestone & felt, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, plays against the ornate charm of W.A. Mozart’s Duo, K. 423. Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla evokes both mischief and sophistication in La Calle 92, which takes the form of a single brief tango. And Handel’s Passacaglia, adapted by Johan Halvorsen, traverses nearly every emotion in a dramatic showcase of the musicians’ skills.
