Ludwig van Beethoven: String Trio in G Major, op. 9, no. 1
Alexander Borodin: String Trio in G Minor - Variations on a Russian Song
John Mackey: Wrong Mountain Stomp
There's usually something electric about Beethoven, but to our ears, the wild card in his ambitious String Trio in G is the final movement - it sounds like Viennese fiddling! Alexander Borodin gives us a moment of repose painted in the dark colors of a musical Rembrandt, then we find ourselves on John Mackey's runaway train! Written for a summer music festival, Wrong Mountain Stomp tells the story of a young girl leaving home in the language of bluegrass.
